DrupalCamp Sacramento 2012

May 26, 2012 - 9:34am -- Shawn

In just two weeks, June 8-10, the Sacramento Drupal User Group will be hosting the second annual DrupalCamp Sacramento at UC Davis. Last year was a resounding success, and this year we look to build on that momentum. We are pleased as punch to have Chris Shattuck as our keynote speaker, and it will prove to be a great weekend.

First of all, we're offering two free training classes on Friday, June 8:

Chris Shattuck is offering his world-reknowned Mentored Training: Site Building and More. I really like his innovative approach to face-to-face Drupal training. In this workshop, students actually watch videos according to their skill level and preferred pace and then there are mentors wandering the rooms ready to answer questions or offer assistance. Students are able to pause the video, work on the task, and rewind if necessary. I have heard nothing but good things from his previous students.

Also, I am fortunate to be able to teach a class as well: Development Best Practices. Over the last couple months, I have been working with Chapter Three to develop the materials for this class. This is my opportunity to teach it for the first time since completing the materials. I'm really looking forward to it. This class is for people who have a certain amount of expertise building Drupal sites, but may not have actually looked under the hood at the code yet. We're going to cover a whole bunch of stuff: downloading and installing modules, dev workflow, features, git, patching, and basic module and theme development. It's a lot to get through, but the C3 folks just taught it at DrupalCamp Twin Cities and it was met with positive feedback.

On Saturday and Sunday, we'll have sessions, BoFs, keynote, sprints, Users Helping Users, and a after-hours party at Bistro 33.

I'll also be presenting an encore session of Mapping With Drupal.
