Day 6: For our last full day, I scheduled a dive trip to Turneffe Atoll, which is about an hour boat trip south-east from Caye Caulker. It's the east ridge if the mountain chain that is the Belize barrier reef and cayes, about 10 miles wide and 30 miles long.

Day 5: Snorkel time. We had booked an all-day snorkel trip with Ragamuffin Tours before we arrived. They have this great sailboat to take you out to the reef.

Day 4: We arrived on Caye Caulker the night before and first order of business today was some scuba diving. I had reserved a spot on the "Barrier Reef" dive trip from Belize Diving Services.

Here's another shot from that dive at Point Lobos. This guy is some sort of rock cod (maybe ling cod?) that I ran into at about 30 feet. Continuing with our discussion on interesting camouflage techniques, here's a cool example. Notice that there's a lot of red in this photograph. The coral is red, the fish is red, even those weird little shellfish stuck to the rock are red. A common thought would be that since everything is red, the fish must be camouflaged; however, that's not exactly the case.

Remember how I said that the water was clear? Well, I meant it. This photo was taken from about eight feet underwater looking up through the clear water, through the fish, and nicely focusing on the redwoods in the background.
